If, in fact Portfolio Recovery is a debt collector, it seems that they don't really care about collecting or if anyone calls them back. I base this on the FACT that they have called me too, from many different telephone numbers, and never leave messages.
Just called my home on a Sunday... they call everyday several times a day. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission then called the number back to tell them to stop calling. The first "lady" I spoke with hung up on me because I wouldn't tell her my name. I gave her the phone number they called me on and told her I have no association with them. I gave the second lady my name and she said she does not have me on their list (seriously?!) and said they may have just gotten my number by mistake and would take me off their list... Let's hope I get no more calls from them!
Their recording says they are a debt collection company and debt collectors are supposed to call only between the hours of 8am and 9pm and are not supposed to call on Sundays. I asked both women if they were debt collectors and they avoided the question by saying we are Portfolio Recovery. I told the first lady she is not supposed to call on Sundays she said there is no laws stating that. I told the second lady she is not supposed to call on Sundays and she said "we are open 7 days a week".
they call at 805 am on sunday and again 6pm on sunday ... not to mention all week long... won't say who they are calling for but you know because of their lax of obeying the law...
