This forum and many others are proof the the Do Not Call (DNC) list was a total scam from the outset, and was only intended to furnish more victims for telemarketing cesspool.. The first week DNCs went into effect, the Direct Marketing Association, which is the center of telemarketing scams, paid off low wage workers in several phone companies to get their DNC lists. People on those lists complained of getting the saem volume of calls.
Tips on how to deal with these [***]:
1. The Tourette Approach: enthusiastically engage caller in a conversation, then suddenly go into Tourette Syndrome-style spasms of outbursts that feature screams with foul language and racial epitaphs;
2. The Whistler: enthusiastically engage caller in a conversation but speak quieter each time until you know their ear is pressed tightly on the receiver, then, using a standard whistle, blow it as loudly into the phone as possible
3. Deflection: log numbers of other telemarketers who've called you and refer these callers by saying "I really want to talk with you but can't at this number - please call me on my cell at (other telemarketer's #)";
4. IRS: some people can have custom outgoing messages according to incoming call #s; if you have this option, make a custom outgoing message whenever 404-993-4804 calls that says "You have reached the Internal Revenue Service Audit Division, Section 27, Inspector Casey's office...please stand by while your Social Security or Taxpayer ID Number is processed according to your incoming telephone number - an agent will be with you shortly -this message will not repeat."
