Said they where calling for updated info for Google 411 and push 1 to talk to an assistant. When the guy came on the line, he wanted to sell me ranking upgrades and I told him I only wanted to be sure they had the right info and I was not going to buy anything. He said HOLD ONE MOMENT and hung up on me!
That screams SCAM to me! Beware!
The call was from a company called Your Local Merchant. (www.yourlocalmerchant.com) They are selling Search Engine Optimization. They got my number from my listing in Google.
Not only did I get a call from these scam balls, but an invoice in the mail that indicated I needed to renew my website registration. Very tricky, it looked legit. If I had not remembered renewing a couple months ago, I would have paid the $49.00. Tricky dicks.
