Call showed Edmond, OK on caller ID. When answered a person calling herself as Michelle said I had won an opportunity to win $5,000 in a mystery sweepstakes tomorrow. She asked me if I would hold for the transfer to that department. I told her to remove my name from their list and my number. I also said I would report them to the OK State Attorney General for fraudulent practices. The last time they transferred me to their sweepstakes department I got numerous harassing phone calls about furthering my education, paying down any credit cards, etc. It was anything other than a sweepstakes. These people are scammers and I recommend you report them to your State's Attorney General.
Update: about 15 minutes ago, I received a call from this number again, but on my cell phone as I was driving. I suspect it was from months and months ago of inquiring about online schools on the internet. Never ever REQUEST information unless you are positive it is a site for that particular accredited school. I would email them directly that request, not from the school's website, actually.
I would have called, asking if they are the next of kin of "Shannon", using an authoritative, official sounding voice. If they say no, then let them know that their number showed up on caller ID, and you would like for them to come to the station for an, uh, "interview".
