I received 2 calls today, could only hear a partial message. I looked the number up on switchboard.com and then entered the number in google and found others who have gotten this message. Thanks to all who posted.
Received a call from them Feb 7, 2011. Talked with them for a bit. Seemed fishy when they kept asking me information. When they asked for credit card info, told them no was not interested in their low interest rate and hung up. Looks like they are using this number for several days. 406-219-2389
I have been getting these for a month - same #. They first said "RESET" on the caller ID, then more recently, have "Bozeman, MT". Today their caller ID designation lists "Mastercard Memb Serv." They are getting more sophisticated in this scam. Pushing "3" to be removed from their list just lets them know they reached a live phone number and adds it to their calling list (I made that mistake once), so just hang up. Pushing "1" to be connected will connect you to a foreign office where they are outside reach of US authorities. The person I got was "Johnny" and when I asked for his last name so I could report him to the AG and FBI he said it was "Stickitinyourass".
I screen all calls and never pick up unless I know who is calling me. Same message as reported by others here and, when I checked 800notes, the scam was confirmed. My cable company (which also provides my landline phone service) has a "block individual callers" option by which I can block up to ten undesirable phone numbers (I can also remove numbers I have previously added to the list). This is a godsend! Please remember - the Do Not Call list is fantastic and blocks many undesirable callers, BUT scammers are an evil, wily, persistent criminal element and will find a way around the DNC capability. My advice: never, NEVER answer a call from someone you don't know and see if your phone service provider has a service to block unwanted calls. And, don't forget to report unwanted calls to the FCC!
Came up on ID as "MasterCard Member 114062192389". Two extra "1's" before the number. How's that happen? Message, as transcribed to my email, "To as little as 6.9%. Your eligibility expires shortly so please consider this your final notice. Please press number 1 on your phone now to speak with the live operator and lower your interest rate or press the number 3 to discontinue further notices. Thank you. Have a great day." Sounded like a live operator. That's the second solicition/scammer from Bozeman, MT I've received in the past week.
I received a call from this number again today. It is a recording, "Rachel" starts telling me she is calling about my credit card>>>>I have NO credit cards. I was on another call so I went back to the original call. Very frustrating calls to get. I am on the "DO NOT CALL" list.
