Scam calls from this number over past 2-3 days to several retail locations. Caller pretends to be from legit company "Moneris" and starts asking questions about merchant accounts, debit & credit card machines. Have asked some offices to test machines. Definitely a scam for sure, as this business does not have any association with Moneris.
This number started calling me last week, two weeks after I had reported 7016611061 to the Do Not Call registry... Same company in my opinion, based on operand and answering parties.
I just filed a complaint to the DNC folks with this new number, and will file a complaint with the FCC if not resolved in the next week, as this intrusive call actually costs many mobile subscribing folks money just to answer.
If I can find an actual address for this offender, I will take steps to file civil and federal complaint.
They have called me from at least 15 different non-working phone numbers over 120 calls thus far. I finally had a good conversation with a very open individual there. They are in India and their boss says they cannot delete numbers from their list until the person buys from them.
He gave me their address in India. I mailed a letter to them asking to stop calling and nothing has happened. They continue to call me continually. They are in violation of several federal laws and in violation of several more state laws. Since they are in India it is apparent there is not much any of us can do.
Your only option appears to be to file a FTC or FCC complaint that just isn't worth the time.
