I saved an email from a long time ago about what to do with with these automated calls. Don't know if it really works but I guess it is worth a try.
What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer !!!
Recorded message says: "You've won a free trip... Press 9 for details..." They've been calling our business. I pressed 9 finally when they called because this has been going on for days. When I got a rep I asked him to take the number off their list because it's a business. He said do you still want to hear about your free trip. I said no - just take the number off your list. He said I was rude and then started swearing, calling me names & saying extremely obcene things. Then hung up. I reported the number to the phone company but who knows what'll happen.
Called at 12:30 AM! I didn't answer and they left part of an automated message on my voicemail. Being waken up in the middle of the night by these scammers is extremely frustrating, the situation is really out of control. I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Same thing-thet call-I answer and they say nothing then hang up!:-(
