I just opened a checking account with them yesterday and they called today. I don't owe them any money, so it can't be for collections. Strange, because my fiance opened one a few months ago and they didn't call him.
BEWARE! This is a scam to get your SS#. I called Banco Popular directly & was told 407-370-7410 is not a Banco Popular # and banks don't have collectors. This group is very convincing they almost had me, but they are not real. This is a scam to get your SS# DON'T BECOME A VICTIM. Banks don't call you to ask for your SS#.
It is Banco Popular collections department and banks do have collection departments. They ask for last 4 of ss# to verf they are speaking to the correct customer.
