Credit call services - this is one of the numbers! I am on the do not call registry. These people call from several numbers and they call all of the time. Have done everything I can to stop it. So far - just today - I have received 7 calls. I can't stand it. How can I get it to stop!
There is NO way to stop these calls. However, you might try what I've done and it has significantly reduced the number of calls. I have set my answering machine to 8 rings before it picks up. No telemarketer is going to wait that long to leave a message. If it's someone I know, they know to leave a message. Also, I make it a rule to NEVER answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. And, if the called ID says Private Caller-I don't answer it.
I too am on the DNCL and am very tired of recieving calls of this type. Time to show them were serious when it comes to penializing them for breaking the LAW!
Another phony credit card reduction fraud from a phony number. The number is probably computer generated. What they really want is your SSN, & other personal data to be resold, and funds up front for services that will never be fulfilled. Calls from these thieves are another reason to immediately contact your elected reps in DC to completely rewrite the DNC laws, prescribing severe fines and prison sentences for violators. The FTC is useless. Since this is a major elections year, one can expect increasing numbers of calls as November approaches, from all kinds of solicitors, liars, firebreathers, nonsensical messages, surveys, etc. Those wanting contributions will likely pocket the money and disappear. Even established campaigns can't be trusted - the campaign accounts of one elected rep were recently embezzled of $4.2M, by her supposed long time trusted aides. We had primary elections in Virginia on March 6th, which was preceded by numerous daily calls from all the phonies and liars. One day we even got 23 such calls. The exemptions for political and non-profit related calls both have to be stopped. Everyone, please contact your reps in DC!
I, too have been receiving these calls from numerous sources, all of which turn out to be bogus. I'm really sick about getting them, too, just like you.
Think about this. The Feds set up a 'Do Not Call List" to which we all subscribe. We still, however, receive these calls day in and day out and many times at night and through the weekend and even holidays. We complain and still we get them. This shows you just how effective government programs are. The companies origininating these calls couldn't care less about the DNCL just like other bad guys don't care about the laws against robbing people or people trying to hack your personal data and the Government is powerless to stop it. This is simply another typical buracracy that has failed yet continues to be funded. According to the Govenment website:
"The National Do Not Call Registry is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency. It is enforced by the FTC, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and state law enforcement officials."
So, there you have it. The FCC pays employees with our tax money to run a failed program and they can not stop these thieves, liers, sleazy salesmen, and the others all who continue to invade our daily lives with these nuisance calls. This DNCL program is run just like all the other government agencies and with the same worthless efficiency. Just one more example of why government programs won't work yet get funded with billions of dollars diverted from other, more worthy enterprises or even better, to reduce our tax "contributions" from our hard earned dollars. The worst thing, however, is that there is virtually nothing we can do to address this issue since there are hundreds of websites to log these crappy calls but nothing........nothing is done to stop them.
