These guys call me all the time. Yesterday their machine message URGENTLY WARNED my special offer is about to expire. (Please...NO000!) My VEHICLE'S WARRANTY offer is about to be tossed on the junk heap! Where my actual car has been since 2005; I was almost killed in it. I think it also threatened to take me off their call list too. (oh to hope and dream).
OKAY... JUST THIS VERY SECOND 5:57p the phone rang and !! guess what!!. It was yet Another Frequent Caller. ID said New Brunswick. I'm waiting for a call & that was possible.... This one's the important, urgent message about my CREDIT CARD INTEREST RATES. [506-226-4565]
These guys have been REALLY NASTY. So what the hell, I hit "1" to get the spiel. I told James "you guys call me all the time". He wasn't bad, borderline getting nasty, and asked if I "want to be on their Do Not Call List". I say "Sure, have been asking that for over a year. I've reported you all". "Oh No", he snidely laughs, "please don't do THAT." His sarcasm was too perfect to get mad at.
Now THIS gets GOOD. James wonders if I gave them my phone # and--see-- you HAVE TO to give it to get on the DNC list. ("Jaaames, you just called me"). Well we can't see the numbers. "Now don't get mad at me. I know it's just your job...but I'm not going to do that, because you WANT me to do that and that would be HELPING you, which I MUST NOT DO." I said he'd done his best with dignity, and wasn't ugly as the others were...
In signing off, I pleasantly inquired if he was really in Canada...New Brunswick? No, no--"James" says he's in Seattle, WA. "It's raining".
No kidding.
His English was Northern, and intelligent. So I don't expect he's one of the funny Liberian scammers--our personal favorites. (Do you get those e-mails too? They're international lawyers in Africa with a bundle of $$$ to give us. But they can't spell or construct an English sentence:) Got to love the brass of it.
Anyway, thought it maybe revealing that JAMES WANTED, almost desperately, ME TO SAY MY PHONE NUMBER to get on their Do Not Call. Maybe he was on the level about that BUT MY ADVICE: GIVE NOT A SHRED OF INFO ABOUT YOURSELVES. Poor "James", but I don't believe a word he said.
It's spooky and annoying, but fear & greed run rampant anymore. Maybe our expensive government can handle this when they get back to the business of working to the benefit of the American people. Just hope they don't offer these guys a bail-out to leave us alone.
Just returned a phone call to them as well. This number is coming out of Florida. Something about a warranty - when he asked me about my make and model, I told him that he should know because he was the one calling me....he hung the phone up promptly!!
The phone rang with Florida #1-407-658-4336. My wife answered. This was supposedly a call to renew a car warranty and was at least the 5th time a call like this has called us so this was enough! My wife asked for their "Super" and they refused. After a minute of irritating back and forth she handed the phone to me. The male caller then went so far as to tell me about the vulgar sexual things that he wanted my wife to perform on him again and how she had already done so with him earlier in the day. Yes we are on the Gov't do not call list. A www.whitepages.com search yields this address: 4108 Cleary Way, Orlando, FL 32828-6401 and looks like a condo on mapping web sites such as www.maps.live.com. With modern technologies they could spoof and not be in the USA!
