I just got a second sales call from this company, even though I'm on the national Do Not Call list. The first time they called, I asked them where they got my name and the guy said something about a Haines directory. When I told him to take my name off his list, he explained that he couldn't because it's a directory and it dawned on me that what he's using is the Haines Criss-Cross Directory (if he's telling the truth). I angrily told him that he's breaking federal law by calling people on the Do Not Call List - and ended the call. That was a week or so ago.
Today, I got another call from the same company but a different guy. This one said I'd given them my name and asked for a call - which, of course, is a blatant lie. Sounds like the first guy needed to meet a quota of getting names for a call back. I told this person the same stuff re breaking federal law about the Do Not Call List and he tried to sound angry at me, blah blah blah.
They have the caller ID number phonied up, of course: 408-199-3353.

Next I'll see if I can file a complaint with the California State Contractor's Board.
I just received this phone call from a guy who said he was from England and called himself Roger Smith. He said he wanted to give my husband an award as "innovator of the year". When I asked which company he was from - he hung up.
Have been getting calls from this number for the past several weeks, usually during the evenings. Tonight I picked up (after 4 rings), but all I got was silence and then they hung up. I submitted complaint to https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/ .
Got a call from Steve Thomas, a contractor who is working in the area. Threw out some names and thought it was a friend joking with me at first. I asked if this was a marketing call and he hung up.
How in the world does someone get a "199" prefix to get on his phone as an outgoing number?
