In certain states your wages cannot be garnished for certain liabilities. For instance, if you owe taxes, they will garnish your wages, if you owe child support and have been a deadbeat parent, they will garner your wages, however, there are some jurisdictions that will not garnish your wages for certain unsecured debt.
More input from FAQ Farmers:
Florida but only if you are head of household.
South Carolina, too!
Pennsylvania, South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas do not allow wage garnishment for creditor debt. Florida does not have specific laws prohibiting the action, but does have laws that make it very difficult for wage garnishment against the "head of household."
Kansas - Special "purchased paper" law. Basically, if an account is sold to another company *BEFORE* judgment, a wage garnishment is not allowed. If an account is sold to another company *AFTER* judgment, then a wage garnishment is allowed
My friend caught the same call and I did today too. They keep changing their numbers....and keep calling me...........I call them back and tell them I am reporting them to the police. I actually have no idea how to report anything like that to the police, but I feel better saying it!
we kept getting calls same thing. then they started getting belidgerent and using profanity to us. We just started calling them back and doing the same thing. Now they wont take our calls LOL
Just got a call from 408-355-9338, no message that I could tell, could barely hear or understand the guy, there was a lot of static & noise in the background and it sounded like he was talking to someone else. The number came up two more times on my caller ID, right in a row, the second time he left another message and I could hear someone else leaving that same scam, "wish you good luck" message in the background, while he was sitting there talking, either to himself or to someone else. Then the message cuts out. I don't think he realizes that he is talking to an answering machine...
Receiving threatening messages, this previuously happened with the same exact voice mails from another area code/phone number a month ago. Please disregard if you receive these messages as this is some form of a scam!
They not only continue calling me but now have called and threatened my 89 yr old grandmother that was a reference on my application. I know payday loans are a bad thing but needed them to get xmas gifts for my kids as a single mom and now they are putting me through misery and my family.. I just want it to stop and need to know how to do it. They threaten me, my grandmother and refuse to provide any proof only want our credit card numbers and phone numbers.
