I got a call from someone claiming they were from Microsoft windows. They asked if I was the owner of this computer. Well gee....we own 3 computers!!! They didn't specify which one. They said they were getting error messages. I said well that's funny, I talked to Symantec on Sunday and spend 7 hours on the phone with them while they de-bugged the hard drive on one of my computers. We've not had any problems on the others. I ended up almost screaming at them because after I told them I wasn't having any problems they insisted I was. I felt as if they thought I was an idiot. I really got mad. They didn't identify themselves as a proper representative would, and they didn't ask for us by name, which someone who owned Windows would since our computers are registered by name. I told them if they call back I'm reporting them.
I received a phone "call" from 408-517-8000 today, 7/17/12 at 1:11 PM EDT. A return got the usual message: "Your call can not be completed as dialed." I tried a few numbers increasingly sequentialed; e.g., 8001, 8002, 8010. Surprise :-) "Your call ...."
just got a call from 408-517-8000 on July 20, 2012 from a woman who said she was from Norton and asked if I was having any trouble with Norton Security and she said she could help, I replied that I wasn't having any trouble with Norton, although I did have some trouble with my Norton Identity Safe disappearing. How would she know??????

AT 8AM, OUR HOME PHONE WOKE ME UP BY RINGING LONG. I AM RETIRED AND SOMETIMES SLEEP LATE. AT 9AM, I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM THIS NUMBER, AND IT RANG 20 TIMES. NEITHER TIME DID I ANSWER OUR PHONE, BECAUSE I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER.
Well funny....I got a call from a man who said "I suppose I am talking to the owner of this computer"....well, which one? We have three. Then he said he was from Microsoft. Yep. Sure. Probably trying to suck money away. Not gonna happen. The number didn't even show up on caller ID though I did find it on the phone when I went to recent calls. I ended up threatening to call the cops if they didn't leave me alone.
