They called my job saying that I was going to be sued and to get an attorney. When I asked what was the problem all they continue to say was to get an attorney so I hung up and called them again and told them that. I was going to sue them

I live in St. Joe MO.and started getting calls 6/19/2009 from the 951-643-4364 number leaving voicemails for me to "call the second I get the message". According to reverse phone lookup,it comes from Arlington CA. They also called my work number several times too. Yesterday the caller said she was "Mona Wilson". Out of curiosity, I called them back this morning (would have been 6:00am California time) "Max Sanderson" who had an extremely thick Indian accent told me he was with Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans and something about Financial Accountability Assoc. He aid I had an unpaid Fast Cash payday loan from Sept. 2008. I told him I never had an account with Fast Cash. He said I had to be in court in California on Monday. When I asked how much to settle, he gave me some figure of 800.00+ dollars. When I told him I didn't have it, he got mad. I told him I might be able to scrape up 25.00, that really made him made. He kept asking if I wanted to settle or not. I told him that I needed to check out his company before I did anything and he got mad and hung up on me
OMG....I just got off the phone with Gary Smith calling from Cali @ 415-200-0254 demanding me to get a lawyer and my two references to be present during court...It is true that I applied for a payday loan but they are paid off. Gary Smith wouldn't give out information about the company. I asked for a phone number and said he can't give it to me....What an A**H***!! He said my balance is now $925.42 and if I don't pay it today then I will definitely go to court. He kept giving me the runaround when I asked for details. I hung up on him....funny thing is, this number doesn't ring on my end when I call them, but they know I called because I was calling the number and he called me back in 5 minutes..asking me if I changed my mind because I just called them...Is there such a number in California?? These people should be hung by the balls!
My situation is the same, received numberous calls before answering one only to find out what everybody else has mentioned: I need an attorney for court in California? It's BS. I told them it sounded like a scam and demanded to know more information, none which could be given to me (that's convienent). I was told I could be connected to their creditor, but they "aren't allowed to give the phone number." Again, convienent. Of course the call was lost when they tried to connect me. I found this page and it really approved my theory: it IS a scam. And the funny thing is, now when I try to call them back, no answer. The phone rings forever. Maybe they know they couldn't fool me. No more harrassing calls I'm thinking :)

Supposedly there is a payday loan out in my name, that he was getting an attorney for this if I didn't settle. I told him I was contacting the AG. I tried to call them back to see what other information I could get out of them, i.e. banking account number.
