I got the same call as mel but the aera code is not the same it is 708 but when called the number does not work. The lady on the other end told me her name was Melissa Morris which i doubt and she gave me an ID number she also gave me several other phone numbers to call. the lady had a strong asian accent.
My story is consistent with the others, in general. A few weeks ago I got a call saying I had won $1000 grocery voucher that I could use in anything just for a taking a brief survey, which I did. I then was asked after giving her my address, etc., which debit or credit card I would use to pay the $1 S/H fee. After saying I did not have access to my cards at present, she gave me her name,I.D.#, and a customer service # 1-877-871-7406.This was tonight after calling me 3-12 times/day,staring from 7:30am-10pm. This last time it was a 775 area code, but same broken English with heavy foreign accent, same survey and rest of script. Hopefully the others' experiences will help get this inwanted caller gone.
I get these all the time. I haven't answered, I'm hoping they'll just fade away. I also called that number for some kind of lottery/prize thing which was stupid. As soon as she started to ask what my hobbies were (or something? I don't remember) I figured it was some kind of sales pitch and/or she'd give away my number to certain companies based on my answers. So I sort of expected these calls, but it's a lot more persistent than I thought it would be. Sometimes they call 8 times a day, sometimes once or twice. I'm just going to ignore them for now, but I'm reaching a point where I may answer and just insult them relentlessly.
"JustMe" - I called that too.. thinking I had to activate my PCH 1.1 million prize entry. They wouldn't stop naming magazines, to the point of I just had to hang up on her.. she wouldn't shut up! Thankfully I gave my google voice #, so I'll just go in & block this #. I'm also getting calls from 727-565-1093 that I think is from the same company. Am going to block both the 408 # as well as the 727 #.. they both seem like scams.
When in doubt, give your google voice number. If you don't have one, go get one! It's free! You log in, and block that specific number, so when they try to call you, they get the "Sorry, this line is no longer in service.." recording.
