I received 2 calls in one day form this number. Both times, they left a message stating they were from the IRS and were in the process of initiating federal charges against me. They left this phone number and identified it as their "department number."
Got a call from 408-799-1731 stating they were with the IRS and filing a lawsuit against me... didn't state who they were filing the lawsuit against. It was an automated message which left a case number to settle this matter otherwise a lawsuit would be filed. I know for a fact that the IRS never actually calls anyone, if money is owed they send a letter. Never trust a caller who says they are with the IRS. Not to mention the caller ID was listed as wireless caller, I'm pretty sure that even if the IRS did call the number would either be restricted or it would say IRS.
Just received a call that had an IRS message and to call this number back. I thought I would have a little fun, so I called them back and they answered...IRS. I said, " Awwwww you funny! I see you got jokes! Then I started laughing at him quite loudly and he got mad and told me to go f*&# myself. I kept laughing and he hung up. Guess he didn't like that too much. I think scammers like that need a taste of their own medicine every now and then.
