I got a call from them this morning, and answered it because it was a local area code, and I sometimes get phone calls from my kids on their friends cell phones if their batteries are dead. There was silence, and I was about to hang up, when a woman came on and started yammering away about gift baskets for the Childhood Leukemia Foundation, and would I make a donation. I Googled it after I hung up, and it turns out this Innovated Solutions company keeps 86% of whatever donations they collect, and sends 14% to the charity they are "soliciting on behalf of". Apparently this specific charity, "Childhood Leukemia Foundation" also has exorbitant overhead costs, and very little money actually goes to benefit kids with Leukemia. So, when the pledge card comes in the mail I will send it back to Innovated Solutions with a note explaining that they will not get one cent from me, ever, and if they call me again I'll either not answer, or just hang up on them. Or my teenage kids answer and pretend they are elderly people who don't speak English and just keep saying "HUH???" loudly in various accents, interrupting the person, until they get frustrated and hang up. Works like a charm.
I just received a call from them today at 2:45 PM. When I said hello, the woman said "Michael?" I asked who is calling? She mentiuoned the Leukemia Foundation and she went on and I hung up. They are now on call block.
