Yep. Got the same call, but was instructed to call 408-300-7044. Since I was NOT connected to the "agent" with whom I was supposed to speak (Landon Carter), and was instead connected to someone calling himself Robert James (with a distinctly Indian accent) I assumed almost immediately -- and well before I gave any financial information -- that it was a scam. I have NEVER filed a bad tax return. During the years to which they referred -- 2007 & 2008 -- I got refunds for OVERPAYING my taxes. Then they tried to tack back, and say my refunds were overpaid. And didn't I get a message from TurboTax about that? Bah! Now I'm mad. And you wouldn't like me when I'm mad. (Sorry, no one under 40 got that reference.)
Also got a similar voicemail message from Roy Jackson with Dept of Legal Affairs about an imposement action against me and that I should have my attorney call. No real details about what the issue is or what I am in 'trouble' about or for.
Does anyone know where/who to report these scams/phishing calls to?
I am currently on the phone reporting this to the IRS dept. in charge of fraud. This character told me that he was going to have my so arrested for non payment of back taxes. I hope I put the fear of God into him as I am the daughter of a Federal Judge and have some understanding of the law. My guess is that he will shut the site down immediately, but I will do what I can to get him caught.
