Hi,
I got the same text message from
[email protected] also saying...URGENT: Emerald Card Starting With 511165 Is Frozen.Call (409)299-4159...I don't have an Emerald card...never even heard of it before now...
The Emerald card is a prepaid Mastercard from H&R Block. (Thank you Google!) If you do not have one of those, I wouldn't even give the text a second thought, however, if you do in fact have one, it would be "MY" suggestion that you call H&R Block, tell them about the text and see what they suggest. Just a thought...
Whoever this is, they are calling from Texas...area code 409 is a state of Texas telephone area code for numbers in the Beaumont and Galveston areas. (Thanks again Google! lol)
I didn't call the number from my cell phone, but I did call it from my office phone. I figured it was alot safer to call from a landline. But it rang 1 time, then a very generic robot sounding recording answered and said "you have reached the 24-hr banking service. You will be able to activate your card in a few minutes, but first you will need to provide 3 additional pieces of information...your card number,.........."
Then the line just sounded like dead air space...
Nice - crooks are SO stupid! If you are going to try to scam people out of their oney or personal information, start by making your recording believable...and guess what...a bank is not going to send a text saying your card is frozen in the 1st place. lol
I love 800Notes & Google! lol
Have a fabulous day, night, week, month, year & life! lol : )
