FYI - I won't donate over the phone for several reasons:
1) you can not verify the identity of the individual who called you
2) you can not verify the name of the company or organization they claim to be or represent either
And once you give them your info, your screwed!!
Just my opinion, if you don't reconize the phone number don't answer the phone and if no VM is left, the call wasn't important to begin with. Most companies with whom you do business with, including family and friends will leave a message.
Received a call on Sept. 22nd 2015 at 9:00 PM and CID displayed "Ellicott City Md 410-505-3208" and as usual no VM was left. Since no VM was left, the call wasn't important to begin with. Even if a VM was left, is no guarentee on my part that I will call the number back either. I don't answer my phone from numbers that I don't reconize, regardless of who is calling. I think this number is some how connected to 410-505-3205 which is also from Ellicott City MD and based on 800 notes regarding that number, it's the F.O.P's. I don't care what type of charity it is either as it's rude and disrespectful for a charity to be calling someone at their home after 8:00 PM seeking donations and this also applies to companies as well. Just because they don't have a life, doesn't mean the rest of us don't.
Same scammer or party calls from 410-505-3208 and 3205 repeatedly. Maryland authorities should be made aware. Let`s see some accountability and action.
I got this call this weekend, after 5 pm. No message left in my answering machine. They use a computer and making the calls.
Must be a fraud. Usually in the name of charity they will try to get our credit card information. Don't answer the call if
the number is not familiar to you.
