We got a call from this number with CID name set to "Cindy Johns" the evening of June 15, 2016. It rang more than once, which means our third party blocking service (rhymes with SlowNoHobo) isn't already clamping down on calls from this number. I answered the phone and said hello. A fairly young-sounding woman asked for someone here by name, gave her name as Elizabeth, and said she was calling regarding the Jobs for Students program. Before getting too far into her script I interrupted her, as politely as possible. I asked that she put this number on their do not call and do not share lists. She said "OK" and quickly hung up.
Fishiness:
No one here has ever had anything to do with a "Jobs for Students" program. The caller's script implied we'd done business with them before.Reverse lookup tells me this 410-636-0687 number is a publicly listed landline, carried by Verizon. The listed associated names are not "Cindy Johns" or anything like it.Googling "Jobs for Students" returns plenty of hits that seem to be about student work, but the only thing in the top results about a program with that name is a BBB page for a "Jobs for Students" organization based in Maryland. There's already a registered complaint about deceptive and high-pressure sales tactics for coupon books.Oh, and less than an hour ago we got a call from an obviously spoofed number (786) 000-2587. We got a call from that number yesterday, too. Today I answered it just to listen. It was a totally silent call. If it was one of those robocalls that farms live numbers it could have been transferred to Elizabeth here.
