NACA is not a scam. I check all phone numbers that I don't recognize. I am not connected to NACA in any way other than the fact that I know people who have been able to purchase homes with the help of NACA.
The caller ID said NACA (Neighborhood Assistance Blah, blah, blah). Thanks to the myriad of telemarketing calls I now get I refuse to pick up the phone for any number I don't recognize. I have no business to conduct with this group, if that's who it really is. Adding the number to my Telemarketing Blocker and allow my computer to handle it from now on!
Also received a call from this group even though we are on the DNC list. It was a prerecorded message that was left on my voice mail. Illegal in Virginia. Filing a complaint.
NACA is the purveyor of yet another phony mortgage reduction scheme. Supposedly operated as a non-profit to give it respectability, it is actually a sub-prime lender wanting funds up front for debt reduction, etc. Also uses 410-783-1525. Address is 1 East Mount Royal Avenue, Baltimore MD 21202. Complain to the Better Business Bureau. Frequent, annoying calls from these people with fraudulent intent are another reason why everyone must write, E-mail or fax their elected reps in DC to get the Do Not Call laws completely rewritten to prescribe substantial fines and prison sentences for these animals. Complaining to the FTC is a waste of time. Now is a good time to contact your elected reps in DC. As this is a major elections year, as November gets closer, we can expect to receive increasing numbers of unwanted calls daily from political related liars, firebreathers, nonsense, fruaus & phonies. Political related calls asking for contributions are to be avoided, as the majority of them will just pocket the money. Even established campaigns can't be trusted. Campaign accounts for one elected official were recently embezzled to the tune of $4.2M by her supposedly long time trusted aides, with the funds totally vanished.
