Received this call tonight about 6:40 Caller ID had from PFFAPA and said for a donation of $15 or $20 I would receive one ticket voucher for a ticket to any Pirates game this year. If I donated $25 then I would get two tickets. He said the Pirates donated these tickets to the Pa. Firemen's ASSoc. to help raise money for some kid's burn unit hospital or something. I told them to send me the info on it but they couldn't send info out unless I promised to send the donation so I said I would but would also check into it to see if it was a scam. They wanted a credit card or debit card but I told them that I din't use those. I tried to find this number on the internet white pages aqnd found this site..
WE JUST GOT A CALL HERE AT THE OFFICE FROM 412-203-6700 CID PFFAPA. WHEN I PICKED UP THE PHONE AND RECITED OUR OFFICE GREETING THE LINE HUNGUP. I CALLED THE NUMBER AND A MESSAGE PLAYED BACK TO ME FROM THE PA PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTER ASSOCIATION.
I received the call this morning as I was finishing my shower, etc. They hung up with no voice or information. Like some others, we are also on the "Do Not Call" list.
I get calls from this number all the time, my wife donated to this company when we first moved to this house. They said they were with the Professional Firefighters Association of PA (PFFAPA) - which is what the caller ID said as well. They promised Pitt. Pirates tickets if she donated. Which they did actually send. However now they call at least 2 times a day, and thank the Lord for my Caller ID or I would be answering these idiots phone calls all day.
I got this same call last night 2/18/08 and I did talk to someone. He wanted to know if I could give money for children that have been burned and to help the fire fighters. He also said that he would send tickets for the Pirates. I don't mind giving to the fire fighters but I don't know if this is on the up and up.
