Just got a recorded call from this number which I did NOT answer claiming to be IRS. The government will NOT help you. They make money on these guys. Too bad we don't get what we PAY FOR.

How is the govt supposed to stop these scam calls when they originate in Pakistan or India?

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

Caller stating name as Nickie Johnson from IRS stating I committed fraud and they were going to take action against me. Call came from Clairton Pa. 412-226-5765.
Just received a phone call from this number. I answered it and a someone with a Spanish accent (she was speaking Spanish when I answered the phone call and apparently didn't realized I was on the phone), she asked for someone that did not live at my household. I barely could understand what she was saying. She then wanted to know my name. I gave her my first name and I believe she wanted my last name but I couldn't understand her. So then I asked what this phone call was in regarding and she stated her name and IRS. IRS was all I could understand. So I asked again, you are calling from the IRS? She said yes and asked me something else. I said really, you are calling from the IRS as I was googling this number and found all these other responses about this number. So I told her, ya right. You are not calling from IRS and you are a scam artist. Please remove my number off your list and stop calling. She hung up. :) I usually don't answer phone calls that I don't know but didn't want to miss a phone call I am waiting for.
