Received a call on my Verizon cell phone (which is on the national DO-NOT-CALL list) at 6:11pm ET on Monday, 11/9/2009. Subsequent calls by me back to this number yield only a busy signal.
Internet resources indicate this number an unlisted number. Pretty shady tactic if this is for a business.
I received a call from this number as well. Called back but no voice mail at the end of the dial tone. Called the main line and asked if they records of the number; answer was no. Called the department of annual giving and they claim they don't use that extension. Asked the customer service to transfer me to the extension 4331 but the line instantly dropped after the transfer... Does anyone have any other thoughts/ideas?
It is a fund-raising call from Carnegie-Mellon University. They use several different numbers in the 412-268-xxxx sequence, and I suspect the calls happen when they recruit students to make evening calls from a phone bank.
