The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
I am receiving these calls also. At least you got a name. These ppl will not divulge their name to me and will tell me nothing more than they are with Process & Summons but will not tell whom is issuing the summons. The number for me was 412-346-1349
I keep receiving calls from 412-346-1349/1347 stating I will be served at my place of employment or my home if I do not call back and give the reference number provided. So I called the first time and was told by a lady that I took a loan from a company and when they tried to take payment out of my account there weren't enough funds to cover it and I was being sued for fraudulent activity. I advised I have no such loan and she should feel free to serve me. She said "so you don't want to settle right now and protect yourself?" I said Absolutely not as I do not have any form of loan out with ANYONE. She said "well good luck then." and hung up.
Today 12.11.14 I received another voicemail and called back, got some man asking for my information. I refused to provide it as he would not identify himself as anyone more than Process and Summons Division. When I asked for whom was he processing a summons on me for he would not answer. I asked for a supervisor and he stated "I am the supervisor" I asked for his supervisor or the Corporate number and he actually told me to hush and listen, listen and listen. Well that wasn't going to happen so I again asked for supervisor or Customer service department and he told me to have a nice day and hung up on me.
Now this is going to sound horrible so I will ap0ologize in advance to anyone it may offend, but in both instances of these calls, the callers have been black. I know this because when I asked if this was Bisleri Trust the woman said I am not a foreigner. I said well who, what are you then? And she advised she was a Black American. So be careful and wary of any calls you get like this. IT IS A SCAM.
This is not about your identity being stolen, these people are predators, and I have been receiving their calls for several years now. The have stepped up their collection practices by, if you question them enough and make them mad, they will threaten your life, and your families life. This time some guy told me that if I do not pay them, there is no where on this planet I can hide, and I'll just have to say goodbye to my family and friends. A definite terrorist tactic. Be careful.
