The caller ID read, "NOT IN USE," so apparently these clowns are so inept they can't even spoof the name. Do I want an alarm system from them? Since it would probably call the gas company to report a burglary, I think not.
Got 2 cals from "Your Security" today, along with calls from Sri Lanka, Tru Green using their new ID of Name Not Found and a half-dozen more like that before noon. On the Do Not Call list but that appears to be some kind of a joke because nothing is ever done with the complants. Have a Call Blocker but, believe it or not it only holds 100 numbers and its FULL !!!! Think I'm just going to record a dog barking and put it on our answering machine as a memo for them to listen to. Already tried the hang-up method but that just prompts them to call back ten fold and now we are back to just not answering any calls unless we know who they are so that leaves out those who refuse to show their Caller ID, like Sears and Tru Green.
I hear ya, Rob 2. If you have had your call blocker for 6 months or so, I would delete all and start over. Many would have stopped calling by now. There are always new ones and new numbers. I have a Digitone that holds 70 numbers and/or area codes. I can block entire area codes at a time by entering that particular area code. If yours does that and you don't have any friends or relatives in that area code, block it. Yes, I get calls like this idiot but they only get through once. The Digitone automatically blocks "unknown", "out of area", "private", "anonymous" and no number calls as well. Digitone works for me but there are a few other good ones out there. Seriously, that's the only way. DNC is non-functional, asking them nicely to stop only encourages them to call more and they sell your number to others because you answered. For everyone out there, get and use a good call blocker. Your phone company, like mine (Brighthouse) may have a free blocking service as well. I get 30 with that one. I use that one for local harassment. Best of luck.
Folks you have to understand this, as one poster has stated, they are criminals! Simply put, they do not care about the do not call list. They do not care about the law. They do not care if you ask to be removed and they definetly do not care if you complain. They are criminals. Robo telemarketing calls ARE illegal. That's why they use fake numbers and hide themselves. All they want to do is steal. Either way, blocking doesn't help becuase they will use another number. Ignore the calls, warn others not to fall for this scam, as long as people fall for it, the longer these fools stay in operation, which means the more calls WE all get. And reporting the calls doesn't hurt, as useless as you think it is, it actually does work. Look to the right of these forums under column "Latest News" and check the FTC website to see who the FTC has crack down on.
