This number called me first time on Nov. 28. There was nothing on 800 notes at the time. Or any other call reporting site. So, I am guessing, this is either a new number for bottom-feeding scum at Portfolio Recovery, or else a new scam of some sort just starting up.
Have any of you ever looked closely at that "privacy" notice your credit card companies send you? The Best Congress Money Can Buy, along with (non)regulators, have it set up so that they can "share" all kinds of personal private information about you with just about anybody who wants it, UNLESS and UNTIL you tell them not to! There are only three categories you can "opt out" of.
They claim they cannot live unless they are permitted to give your information away to the majority of categories. Well, that is baloney, but it must also be true, then, that the poor little investment banks that are too big to fail CAN get along without the three categories you may 'opt out' of. That being the case, they ought not "share" our info with those optional entities unless we take the time and energy to call them up and beg them to share with all and sundry.
My point is that a lot of these endless pest calls undoubtedly originate with the "sharing" done by your credit card companies.
