Caller ID said Amerigroup, our children's health insurance company. It was an automated recording asking for personal information for one of our children - not verifying info they already had, but asking for it with voice responses from me. They had the child's name, but asked for the birth date (for 'verification' from me) and also for our zip code. We have more than one child, and that particular child did have a doctor's appt. this past week, so I gave the birthdate . . . but something didn't feel right . . . I didn't give the zip . . . seemed phishy to me so I hung up. I don't know what other information they might have asked for.
I tried calling Amerigroup's customer service # - they are closed on Sat/Sun (rcv'd call above on Sat.). I did a search for the number and found this page. Also checked Amerigroups site - all their contact numbers are 800/888 toll-free numbers. Amerigroup is based in Virginia; the call originated from Pittsburgh, PA.
