Caller ID said "SANDISFIELD, MA" which is in our County (Berkshire) and our area code and is out in the 'boonies.' We were not in when 'they' called. Other sites report this is the IRS SCAM. Glad we weren't around for that. Now BLOCKED & will REPORT. Reports go back to June 27, 2016 so this is a relatively 'new' number, but an 'old' scam.
Incidentally, there are NO IRS Offices in Sandisfield! Nice Try, SCAMMERS!

Tried my line at 5:30 pm; I answer no calls that aren't on my contact lists. Caller left no voice mail. If it's IRS scammers, I'll expect at least one follow-up, complete with a hilariously worded threatening voice mail message, like a previous, similar attempt from a Texas exchange. I'm also in western MA, same as the first respondent, but in the Springfield area. Perhaps they think using the 413 exchange will lend them an air of legitimacy as they target the happy valley. Don't fall for it!
I know what you mean by 'hilariously worded' message. We got one last week on the machine, badly garbled, from a man with an obvious India accent that said (in part) "This message is intended to contact you." (?!?!) That reminds me of the old bit by Lily Tomlin pretending to be a phone company operator, who says, "Is this the Party to Whom I am Speaking?"
