I received a call from the phone number 413-285-6146, the man on the call told me that my family member had an accident near the gas station where he work and that he needed money, when I told him I had nothing to do with the person, he told me a couple of dirty words and hung up the phone.
This person has a puerto rican accent when he speaks.
Monday Feb 9, 2015, a man with an hispanic accent - not speaking english well - called my co-worker and threatened her saying:
-her father got into a car accident. (eventually he said 'we have her father')
-he has a cousin who is sick and needs money for surgery. They have problems with the law so we can't call the police.
He is quite insistent and knows how to manipulate people into giving information to him. He doesn't have anyone's name to begin with but will try to get them as the call goes on.
While I kept him on the phone we verified that everyone in the family is doing fine and told him to get lost.
He called back and we didn't pick up.
Stay calm and give him less information as possible!
The same thing happened to my husband yesterday 2/23/2015, they called saying that his brother was in a accident and if we didn't pay them $5,000.00 that they were going to kill his brother. That they already shot him in the stomach because he threatened to call the police at the scene of the accident. We knew it was a scam. 413-285-614 Spanish accent. My husband speaks Spanish so he finished the convo in Spanish. I got a missed call from that number also!!
Got the call today and went along with it. I have seen this in the news and thought it was funny that it was happening to me. They guy called and asked if I spoke spanish which I do, he asked me if I had a brother and asked what's my brothers name, lol I don't have a brother so I said my brothers name was Raul, the dummy said yea that's who we have. He stated that "Raul" had crashed his car and wanted to call the cops so they pistol whipped him and tied him up and took him to a hideout. Said that they didn't want to get the cops involved but they needed 500.00 if I wanted to see Raul again, I told them Raul isn't worth $500 and that he has been a pain in my butt so thanks for taking care of him. The guy was in aww and didn't know what to say but after leading him on I told started arguing with him in Spanish calling him names and told him that he was a sick person to put people to suffer and take advantage of people like that. Just take it easy and watch yourself be smart.
