htanks for the trip re: phone tray. It doesn't matter if yoiu andwer of not, if you let the machine get it or not; callers know it's a live number because it rings with no "the number is not in service" . I let the speaker pik up the call, I'm dead silent and they speak "hello ?" hello ? then they hang up. They will have no idea what they've reached and they will eventually get tired of dead air. The phone tray would be for me so that someday I might possibly be able to anser the phone again.
again. they call, I put on the speaker but dead silent they hang up and call again. they know the phone is live because (1) they bought the number from someone who knows that it's live and (2) when they call they don't automatically get the landline message preceeded by 3 horrible screechy sounds "The number you have called is no longer in service " or This is a non-workign number, please hang up and try your call again or they hear that automatic (Verizon) quck, repetitive busy number sound. Call blocking equipment would be great ---as long as it didn't block incoming faxes, screw with my DSL or block all calls from area codes which are legit - 413 is near Road Island ...or it is from Western Mass ?
