someone called and asked me for my ss# also, i asked what it this regarding and would not give any iformation, only to contact my attorneys and also threatned me that I would be arrested. I called back and told them they did not have the right to threatned me and to be professionals and the I would report them to the FDCPA. The guy told me that I am a scammer and that I was going to be arrested. I kept talking then I realized he hung up on me...twice.
So grateful to see all these post, I received the same call almost word by word from Anderson Thomas.
today at my office threatening to have me arrested at my office and put me in jail for a week. I should be prepared to have $8,000 to get bailed out at the end of the week. Even though you know its a scam it is still very unsettling! Heading back up to police head quaters tomorrow am!
So this evening I received a call from wisconsin which I did not answer they left a message on my voicemail saying at this very moment you here this message there is a lawsuit and that i have to get a attorney the guys name was Anthony Miller
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
i started receiving these bs calls also. but they stopped after i would constantly call them almost 100 times a day cursing them out and i would blow an air horn into the phone just to mess with them. they are scammer foreigners who try to con hard working americans. i had so much fun with them. i still call them every once in a while just to break their balls. its funny how a man who barely spoke english said his name was Adam Jones. i literally would call them almost 100 times a day just to fuk with them. they messed with the wrong person. i miss them tho. i think i may call them today just to blow my air horn into the phone again. Im telling you people all you have to do is start harassing them just like they r doing to u and it will stop. and you will have a ton of fun while you r doing it!
