My wife got a call this morning from a (heavily accented) person who wanted me to call back and ask for a Michael Carter at this number. I searched that number, got to this site where the reports pretty much confirmed my suspicions that this was a scam. I've had tax return investigations conducted by the IRS. But it has always been initiated with official paper mail notifications.
I got the call from this # too. The guy had such a heavy indian accent I could not understand anything except that there was an IRS/tax problem. I called the # he gave me (the same #) and someone else answered (with a less heavy indian accent) who read this big long thing to me saying the sheriff would be at me door to arrest me tomorrow for tax evasion and fraud. I told him I would be sure to bake some cookies for the sheriff when he comes.
Here is info what I know they are from India calling from India via megic jack. I got this call today morning they said my name right ( no one other then South Asia persons can said it right) so I start give him bad in Hindi and they understand each word.
