IRS has absolutely no authority over local police. Local police and law enforcement are NEVER involved in tax disputes. If law enforcement presence is needed US marshal are available. But that is rare.

I received a voice mail stating they they were from the IRS and it was time sensitive, not to disregard this information. Sounded fishy so I Googled the phone number to see posts from several other people stating the same information. I don't have time for this crap, get a job and stop trying to scam money from hard working people!
I called this number back and the Indian guy told me was from the IRS and that I had to get a lawyer to represent me for legal matters, he told me he had to read me an affidavit if I wanted details on the lawsuit and the charges being brought against me. He told me not to interrupt him as he was reading it to me... Makes me wonder if he had to keep me on the line for a certain amount of time to get info off my phone. I' may be over analyzing it but now a days you just never know. The affidavit said all my assists my house and bak accounts were going to taken from me for my debt. When I asked him to verify my name cus at this point that's all he had he told me that he didn't appreciate what I did and hung up. Total scam just makes me wonder why if he didn't ask me for any personal info which scammers usually do to steal identity why he wanted me to just call back and listen to him?
Digital voice stating to call this number "i need you or your retained attorney of record to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. I am officer Jean Smith from the IRS. And the hotline number...(repeated). Do note disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Goodbye and take care."
