I received a call from this # on my office line. I don't remember the name but Nikki Johnson sounds right. Same thing "take this seriously ....". I did not call back because I'd heard of the scam and I didn't think the IRS phoned. Also, I don't remember ever putting my work number on anything with the IRS and know I have no outstanding issues or owe them any money. It's a very unfortunate scam playing on people's fears.
Just received a message from 415-236-3632 claiming to be the IRS. The message was to call back immediately to avoid legal action. Realizing it was a hoax but curious, I called and a thick-accented individual answered "IRS". I said "What do you mean IRS"? This flustered him and he said "Why don't you think this is the IRS?" to which I replied "because the IRS doesn't make calls". He hung up. Why can't these people make an honest living!!!!!
Saturday morning at 8:30 am I received this call. Automated message with the same "do not disregard this message....call back before we take action against you".
Glad I googled the number and found this posting. Why would IRS leave a phone message on a Saturday morning?
