"Kevin Petersen" (with a thick Indian accent) called my friend from this number threatening to have police arrest him at work if he didn't pay thousands of dollars via a visa gift card for a payday loan that he was collecting. Total scam. Beware.
this "Kevin Peterson" with the Indian accent as well called a friend of mine with the same story. Same thing-- he said he would send a sheriff to have her arrested and she would go to jail for a over a year, lose her job, driver's license, etc. She called me crying and devastated. He kept calling her and the number on her cell phone would be the 415-251-2645 and then they would call right back and the number would come up 911. When she answered the 911 call the guy who sounded just like "kevin" said his name was "marcus" and then started yelling at her because she didn't answer the other phone call with the 415 area code. I called this clown from my cell phone with my number blocked.. he answered the phone as Kevin Peterson and I asked him what company he worked for and all he wanted was my name. When I wouldn't give it to him, he got mad and called me a [***]. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION --THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!
Omg!!! these ppl did the same thing to me today. First I got a call from a guy who asked me for my attorneys number. When I asked what for he said it was because charges were being filed against me. He pretended as if I knew about what he was talking about. He then gave me another number to call for someone named Micheal Carter in order to get info on the charges filed against me. A woman named Christine picked up and claimed to be an attorney and proceeded to tell me how I was in default of a pay day loan from " a long time ago" and that the company was filing criminal charges against me for banking fraud. She went on to say that I needed to make sure that someone had bail money to get me out because I would be picked up at my job tomorrow at 11am. She asked if I had spoken to my local sheriff regarding this matter. I asked what I could do to not get arrested and she said there was nothing I could do. I asked if I could call the pay day loan ppl who I had gotten the loan from and she said no because they had already filed charges because they wanted to "make an example of me". I said well what if i just pay what I owe if i could borrow the money from a friend and she said she didnt believe that I could get the money in time (because I only had 30 mins before she was sending my case to the cops). I told her that I could borrow it because no one I knew would just let me go to jail so Im sure someone would give me the money. She told me sense I had no prior record that she would give me 5 mins to call her back with the money in hand ($800) because she didnt trust my ability to pay through my bank. I then called my boyfriend in a COMPLETE PANIC and he told me that he had recently read up on these ppl and that it was a TOTAL SCAM!!! I was so relieved and so angry all at the same time. These ppl are also very rude. They speak with an Indian accent and try to speak very fast and over talk you in order to confuse and trick you. I couldnt understand 1/2 of what they said including the company they were with. PLEASE DO NOT BE ALARMED BY THESE PPL AND MOST DEFINITELY DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!! IT IS ILLEGAL FOR ANY CREDITOR TO THREATEN YOU WITH JAIL TIME FOR A DEFAULTED LOAN. THEY CAN SUE BUT THEY CAN NOT FILE CRIMINAL CHARGES. GOOGLE THIS AND BEWARE.
I received numerous calls from this number and an "unknown" number on my cell. I did not answer because I did not know the number so they repeated and called me several times in a row and even called and harrassed my fellow employee at work asking for me to call them back. I got into work on Sat. the 26th and my fellow employee told me that an indian guy called twice asking for me and said it was a serious matter. I called the number back to see what it was about and a guy named "Kevin" with a real heavy accent said that he was a restitution officer calling for a company that hired him to get their money for a defaulted loan. He said I received my funds through this "Cash Advance" payday loan place and that when they tried to take the money back out for payment it went NSF from my bank. I was extremely confused because the guy was talking real fast and I could barely understand him. He then said I needed to listen to him carefully and not interrupt him while he explained the "allegations" against me. I said ok and he proceeded to tell me that I was being charged with check fraud and two other federal laws that I couldn't understand and that if I didn't submit a payment of $658 dollars within 30 minutes of talking to him that a warrant for my arrest was going to be filed in a few hours. I got extremely upset and said I needed to call my father and explain the situation. "Kevin" said I had 10 minutes to call him back otherwise I was going to be arrested at work. While on the phone with my father I received 2 calls from the indian guy on my cell and a nasty voicemail. I called him back and he said that he would transfer me to the "collection department" and talk to a "Michael" about how I was going to make the payment. I said ok and was transfered. I did NOT get a Michael, I got yet another indian accent person which was a female who said her name so fast I couldn't understand. I asked the lady if she was the collection department and she said yes and "how would you like to make your payment"? Credit card over the phone, visa gift card, or EFT from my bank directly. I said I couldn't make the amount she needed and she replied with ok let me transfer you. I was on hold for 5 minutes then hung up on. My father found out it was a scam and I was extremely pissed off and relieved at the same time. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!! IT WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF GRIEF!!! Total SCAM!!!
