These guys have sweat shops set up in India and elsewhere that do VoIP call forwarding so it looks like they are from the US but they are not. They have auto dialers to do DoS (Denial of Service) on companies and light up the entire switchboard. They are extortionists that are scaring people into sending money. We called the around, even the FBI, and nothing can be done. If you call the carrier from where this number originates, they will shut the number down but that is only an irritant for them and doesn't solve anything. All you can do is don't talk to them and they will get bored and move along.
I got a call today from IRS that left message on my phone , said to urgently call back (415)251-3754, when I called back the VM said Officer Kenneth Webster, mailbox was full. I was panicked but don't owe money so it didn't make sense.
I have gotten this same call. This is the second incident. When I told them I knew this is a scam they hung up on me. My police Dept. didnt return my call when I left a message to file a complaint. What a scam!
Got a call from this number 415-251-3754. Knew it was a scam. since when do you have a direct line to an agent. Said he was Officer Kenneth Metzger. Since when does the IRS call you. I have never received a call from the IRS. Only letters.
I got a call from a Kevin Scott claiming that he was from the IRS and that I owed them money and I should have received a letter from them. He then proceeded to want my personal information 'verified' to which I told him he could go to heck and if the IRS needs something from me they need to send me something in writing otherwise I would not confirm anything with him. Got his IRS ID# (which all agents should have and identify themselves with when they call you, this guy did not know I worked for a lawyer and know this stuff). Anyways, ended up on have IRS send me a letter and I will respond to them in person.
