Received a call today from a "Mark Williams" who claimed that he was from the IRS. "Mark" spoke with a definite INDIAN accent. It is definitely a scam .... may this Fu..ing INDIAN rot in hell together with all his family members ! The number that called me was 415-234-9591 , and therefore from California.
Received phone call from 415-251-6327 addressing me stating he was Peter George from the IRS and that it was important for me or my attorney to call him back before legal action and to use reference number. Have a good day.
Actually, if it was indeed the IRS they can and sometimes do prosecute. Ask Al Capone. However, the IRS would never contact you over the phone and would make every effort possible before prosecuting. Although I'm not positive, I believe that the IRS is the only entity that can actually prosecute and send you to prison for failure to pay (Federal Taxes).
