Received a call today from a "Mark Williams" who claimed that he was from the IRS. "Mark" spoke with a definite INDIAN accent. It is definitely a scam .... may this Fu..ing INDIAN rot in hell together with all his family members ! The number that called me was 415-234-9591 , and therefore from California.
Got a call from this number AND from 415 690-1322, each with the same exact message except the call back number is the respective number called from. Call came on M.L.K. Holiday (January 20, 2014).
Very annoying loud beep starts the call with an indistinguishable part of a deep man's voice, then the message starts from a woman with a very thick accent (my guess is India).

"extremely time sensitive"
"the very second you receive this message"
"you or your recent attorney of record"
"before any legal action takes place"
"deficiency in your income tax"
"hard line" (for returning the call)
"don't try to disregard this message"

I just received the same phone call from an Indian Guy named Eric Jones. hmm. He gave me 2 hours to get a money order for $4000. I googled the number as i had him on hold and read this thread. I got back on the phone and told him that he can go fuk himself.
The same experience as many of you have narrated. In my case the call came today (jan 24, 2014 from 415-323-1082) and the guy identified himself as Eric Jones and after similar stories of tax problems told me that there was a civil as well as criminal case against me. He said that he is an investigator with IRS (internal Revenue Service). I asked his office address which he gave as 450 Golden Gate Ave, San Fransisco CA94102. I asked him to read off my SSN to which he said that he had it but it was dangerous to give on the phone so he won't do it. So I said if that is the case, why does he bother to even discuss my tax problems on the phone, I would like to have it in the mail. I said whatever problem you have send it in the mail and me or my lawyer will look into it. Hearing this he said that in that case he will report my case to the Sheriff Department and get me arrested by coming Monday. I told him I will report him to the FBI and get him arrested sooner.
They called me on 415-322-1145 and said i should call sam Taker. When i called back they said Sam was not on dutie. They gave me another no 415-251-6327 and ask for Ben williams. they want me to pay $6520 or the sheriff will arrest me on monday. I told him to fax me paper of my crime information so that i can show it to my lawyer, he said he will fax it on monday. i said will call back to make arrangement of getting the money pay. When i called back i told him that he should fax me the paper work because the person that is giving the money need the proof, he said there is no paper work and he hang up the phone
