I work at a Real Estate company, and over the past several months different women have called from similar phone numbers (415-316-0480, 415-316-0485, 415-316-0489, and 415-316-0491) asking about different addresses that we manage and if we have any apartments (studios or 1bds, and 2 or 3bds) available for lease now or in November or December. When I questioned the caller from 0485 a couple weeks ago as to where she's calling from, she would only say "my house."
Today "Angelica" called from 415-316-0489 and we do happen to have a studio available at the address she asked about. She asked a ton of questions such as when it's available (twice), how much the security deposit is (and she couldn't figure out the math when I told her it would be 1.5-2x the monthly rent), if there was 1 or 1.5 bathrooms, what utilities she'd be responsible for, etc. She thanked me and hung up.
Three minutes later, "Angelica" called back from 415-316-0491 to ask if we have any specials going on for the apartment we just discussed. I told her no, and asked where she's calling from. She said she was calling from her cell. I told her that we keep getting calls from similar numbers (and read the numbers off to her) asking about apartments, so I know they're related calls. She denied any knowledge of what I was talking about and said she's calling from her cell because she's looking for an apartment. I told her that I know she's not calling from one cell phone, because when she called me a few minutes ago she called from 316-0489 and now she's calling from 316-0491. She said she's calling from her own cell phone, she hopes I have a better day, and goodbye.
I called back all four numbers both from my office phone and my cell phone, and all I get is a busy tone.
These calls have been going on for at least a year, but I just started keeping a log a couple months ago. They usually call for two addresses that we manage, and always ask about 2 or 3 bedrooms apartments, even though each time I tell them that the building they're calling about only has studios and 1 bedrooms. I don't know what their deals are, or where they're calling from, but they're getting annoying.
Just received another call from "Alexandria" from 415-316-0497. She asked how much studios were at a specific address, and said she's looking to move in November or December. When I told her the leasing agent is not in and I will take a message, she refused to leave her number (I guess she doesn't know she has caller ID on??) and said she'll call back instead.
I read on another website that one of the above numbers is linked to people stealing information about available apartments and then posting fraudulent ads with legit info but their scam contact information.
Just received another call from "Debra" from 415-316-0498. She asked how much studios or one bedrooms are at the same specific address. I asked her where she heard about us, and she said she didn't know because she's calling for her husband. I told her the leasing agent is not in right now, and I can take a message for her. She hesitated, and asked if the leasing agent will be in tomorrow morning. I said yes, and she said she'd call back.
Annnd we received another call today, 10/27/15. This time from 415-316-0551. The woman (who sounded similar to the supposedly different women who've called from the other numbers) asked about studios or one bedrooms at a specific address (one of the three previously asked about). I said the leasing agent is out but that I will take down her name and number. She said her name is "Robin Ross" and actually told me her number was 415-316-0551. I asked her how she heard about our company, and she said that she didn't know because she's calling for her husband.
I called back the number a couple hours later, and I only got a busy tone.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Just now, on 10/27/15, "Jason" called about apartments available at the same specific address. I asked him where he was calling from and he said his cell phone. I told him that I know that he's not calling from his cell phone because we receive calls from (I read him off all of the different numbers), and everyone asks the exact same questions and has the same script. He said he didn't know what I was talking about and he's calling from his cell phone. I told him that whenever I dial the number back the call doesn't go through, so I know they're not all randomly calling me from their cell phones. I asked him who is paying him to make this call, and he said that he doesn't know what I'm talking about and if I don't have any apartments available he will take his money elsewhere and hung up. I'm going to start rejecting any call with a 415-316 prefix and send it to voicemail because I am tired of their pathetic games. This is harassment at this point.
