Officer Johnson left a message and said she was from the IRS: “The hotline to my position is 415-366-6646. Don’t disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Thank you and good-bye”. No accent, sounded like a robotic recording.
When I called back, a man with an Indian type of accent answered the phone. He asked why I was calling and I told him I was returning the call. He asked my name, to which I replied, “You called me. YOU tell ME what my name is”. He mumbled a name and I told him that wasn’t me.
I talked real slow trying to keep him on the phone longer, (1) because I was recording it and (2) so I could listen to what was going on in the background. It sounds like there’s some kind of filter so you can’t hear his voice clearly.
Anyway, when he realized that I was on to him, he told me F___ you. I replied, “Right back at you. I’ve got all I need”.
Called, left a message claiming to be the IRS. I returned the call and the guy who answered had such a thick Indian accent I couldnt understand him. He did say his name was Officer Davis, YEAH RIGHT!!! This is a SCAM!!! Do not give them your information!!
I received a call from this number and they say I owe back taxes. Heavy Indian accents, really?!! Funny thing is, I gave them a fake name, Jessica Johnson. Ok this is such a generic name but they immediately pulled up my information and could tell me how much I owe. Funny thing is, they wouldn't let me pay it. They wanted my attorney's information. LMAO Not sure what their angle is but it is not the IRS. Scam!!!
I also got the "panic call" from the "IRS". Same experience on returning it. The speaker had a heavy East Indian accent, and didn't know any salient facts about me. I asked if I could handle the matter at my local office, and he said he would connect me with "John Anderson" from my local office, then put me on hold. I figured I'd had abut enough fun by then, so I hung up.
