The same thing is happening to me too. I retired in July 2011 and the phone calls stopped. Now over a year later they are starting up again. I guess they're running out of people to scam and have to harass people who ignore their calls. I have a block on my cell phone so if they leave a message it goes right to voicemail. It just gets so annoying.
I got a call from this number people don't give them any information this is a fraud... a women called me left a message saying I need to call back me or my lawyer. when I called her back she pretended to be someone esle this is a san francisco number this is not the department of investigation the people are trying to live off of other people. she sound like she was indian but said her name was angel, yeah right. please beware of this number 415)376-1480
After being dumb enough to apply for a loan online 72 hours ago, this number called me, my husband, and my mother this morning. Some man threatening that I had warrants out for my arrest for money laundering and embezzlement because I did not pay back a pay day loan. I never "completed" an actual application. After speaking to a local deputy I was advised this is a scam and to ignore it. The guy hung up on me when I told him " I am sick of a bunch of foreigners calling me who can't even speak English; like you" I called my phone company and had mine and my husbands numbers changed so they couldn't harass us anymore.
This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
they were threatening the outcome if a previous employee did not get back to them. When I called the number, they said "Peter George"was in a meeting. We, too, had recently applied for a loan online.
What a bunch of nonsense!
