CALLED THIS # BACK, THE PERSON THERE CLAIMS TO BE DEPT. OF LAW & INVESTIGATION. SAYING THAT MY BOYFRIENDS GRANDFATHER OWES A CREIDT CARD BILL FROM 2005 AND THAT IF IT IS NOT PAID HE WILL BE SUED AND ARRESTED AND GO TO JAIL FOR 30 TO 60 DAYS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT HIS GRANDFATHER PASSED AWAY 20 YEARS AGO. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A SCAM BECAUSE A PERSON THAT I WORK WITH GOT A SIMULAR PHONE CALL SAYING THAT HE OWED FOR SOMETHING THAT HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT AND THAT HE WOULD ALSO BE ARRESTED. BE CAREFUL!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF!
My family was completely conned by these people 2 days ago... they said a lot of the same stuff to me as you have written below, but one of the numbers I looked up that they had left was 732, in New Jersey. Chris Edwards was a name I was given also, and I asked for someone who (maybe, possibly) spoke slightly clearer English (i.e. I was polite, unlike them) and they told me I had something wrong with me, and must be sick in the head or something. He also told me I was NOT to interrupt him until he was finished (!?), and when I asked for everything in writing THREE times, they said no... they then said they would be "downloading a file to the civil "coat", and I was going to be "taking a trip to the "coat" house in downtown North Carolina. They harassed me so badly, I had a panic attack and ended up going straight to the hospital. While I was there, they somehow found my parents no., called them and completely upset my parents until they paid the amount (which changed three times), thinking I was going to jail if they didn't. So while I have some serious work to do to fix my situation (and I am determined!) PLEASE, NO ONE ELSE EVEN GIVE THESE PEOPLE 2 SECONDS OF YOUR VALUABLE TIME!!!
I left a long, HEATED response about these frauds above, and only just read your post... I'm not sure how I can contact you, as I certainly don't want to ask you to post any of your personal information, but if you could possibly let me know if/what you ever found out, or if you hear anything in the future, I would be VERY grateful. I am NOT in the financial situation to be able to hire a lawyer, but have already drafted a letter to the NC Attorney General which I will CERTAINLY be sending tomorrow, now that I have discovered all of these posts.. I just don't know what else to do, and I'm extremely upset. I would be mad if it was just me, personally, that they had (sorry for this but no better word) screwed, but the fact that they completely conned my parents who were just terrified I was going to jail makes me absolutely furious beyond words. I actually haven't slept in two nights since it happened, and ANY information or advice you might be able to give me would be GREATLY appreciated! Sincerely, HERA!
