I have tried to find out who this company is. All I get is that it is a company based in the SF/Oakland area.
It is probably some collections agency who buys old accounts that are beyond the collection period.
Called them back and asked why they had 2 people call and leave threatening messages on my phone. They instructed me they did not know who they were or how to get in touch with them. I explained I was not doing any business over the phone, to please mail me something in writing and I will be happy to address the problem. Turns out they stated they already had, which is a LIE, and because they did, they were not going to send another. Said the process server was on his/her way to my home to serve me. They are using the name of a legitimate Law Firm in San Francisco (Goldman and Associates). I called them and notified that the name of the company was being used to threaten and intimidate people. Under advice of an attorney, I asked for a letter and until then I will not make a payment that may or may not be mine.
I finally called them back even though I knew I shouldn't because I always get mad at these scammers. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with scam payday loan collectors for three years. My information was sold to someone or hacked when I took a legitimate loan, which I repaid long ago. I get calls every few weeks from different fake companies and sometimes real firms who have had the misfortune to purchase made-up debt. The caller always has misinformation (wrong address, wrong social, wrong bank account, wrong birthday) that has been filled in by someone.
This caller was with the legal dept. I asked for the company for whom she worked and she said GMA, Goldman and Associates. When I inquired if it was a law firm, she said yes. When I asked for the contact information, she refused to provide it. What law firm doesn't give out contact info? She stated they were in my state (not even near CA). I then asked her why I was instructed to call a San Francisco number. She said the process server called me from there. I reminded her I just called in on this number. She made an excuse they had lots of numbers. I inquired in different states?
She quickly changed to the charges filed against me. She had wrong bank information as the account in question was correct but closed years before that "loan" was taken. (No recent activity). I told her I have never had a loan with that company either. She insisted someone did and I owed the money because it was my info. As I started to argue with her and request written documentation, she interrupted me and told me I was just going to be served. Then, she started to rattle off some random address, which was not mine. I told her to go ahead and serve me there because that address doesn't exist in my county or city (I googled it and we live in a small town so I know it doesn't exist).
Please don't pay these people anything unless you have written documentation. I am waiting for my "summons" with details on the loan I never had.
