Multiple calls from IRS automated recording...called back to tell them to take me off their fraudulent call list and they told me the sheriff is on the way to arrest me and will put me in jail for the rest of my life if I don't pay.
2 Messages were left in phone mail box. It was purportedly from Officer Heather Gray of the IRS. She indicated (in a slow strained voice) that I needed to call her back immediately to deal with a time sensitive issue and prevent IRS action against me. The second call was received at 8:15 AM CDT (6:15 AM in California Area code 415's territory. The message concludes with a "take care" salutation unbecoming of the IRS. A search of the internet confirmed that the name Heather Gray and similar messages have been used in other scamming attempts said to originate with criminals in India. This one was easy for me to spot and consequently ignore.
