Received poor quality recorded message from IRS Officer Julie Smith, 415-742-6974 demanding return call from my attorney. Very sensitive matter and that call should be returned before she takes further action! Don't think so. I'd rather report to the authorities against them.
Call from 415-742-6974 claiming to be IRS agent "Julie Smith" threatening immediate action if no response. Called back and asked where Officer Julie was and would not stop requesting to speak to his supervisor, Officer Julie. Did this until he hung up on me. Reported via instructions here: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Report-Phishing
Received message on answering machine yesterday from Officer Julie Smith of the IRS - really?? I'm supposed to believe that the IRS is calling me on a Saturday and that a prerecorded robotic message is from the IRS. Don't think so. I do owe the IRS, but they always communicate by mail or certified letter, never by phone. The message says it's extremely time sensitive and do not wait to contact them or they will take action against you and end the call with "good-bye and take care". Please do as others have suggested and contact IRS directly, not these phony people and certainly don't make any payments to them.

Well, yes, that's the way the scam to SUPPOSED to go:
(1) Buy a magicJack for about $100/US in India with an offer of "free" phone service for 3, 6, or 12 months.
(2) Pick out and have a YMAX Corp. number assigned to it. (They provide the phone numbers for all magicJack devices and exist almost exclusively for that reason.)
(3) Find an internet connection, preferably in your mother's basement, in a slum in India, where the government has no interest in helping to enforce US laws.
(4) Get copy of script to read.
(5) Start calling the US for free (both inbound & outbound calls).
