Computer-dialed number froma service bureau that leases these lines to organizations. This number is frequently used by Total Credit. answer and there is no one there. The computer will dial at scheduled times, three to five times a week, even when a payment isn't due and the account is up-to-date. Very harassing, very distressing ..... but intimidation is the game.
This number called today and left a very freaky message on the answering machine: heavy breathing and a deep sigh before hanging up. I called back and message said that they were "Strategic Marketing." I selected the option to remove myself off the list (#3). If this is in fact a telemarketing company, they are extremely unprofessional!
The lady claimed to be calling on behalf of the Humane Society International. Said she got my number from a petition that I signed (which i thought was strange since I don't remember ever putting my phone number on any petitons). Said she wanted to tell me about the work they are doing and that she was fundraising.
