A quick reminder to NEVER give your personal info over the phone. I just received a phone call (1-416-349-5679) from someone who addressed themselves as someone from Scotia Life, and they needed to verify my information to proceed with my application. When I prompted them for detail about this so called application, they said they couldn't disclose that information until they verified my identify. Being fairly intuitive, and realizing this was most likely as spam call, I said they could call me back when they were willing to disclose what this was about. This person continued to frantically talk before I hung up the phone. People like this target the most vulnerable citizens, and are very smooth at getting you to release your private info. DO NOT for any reason, release this info unless you know exactly who you are speaking to, and what it is for. It is sad that this is the society we live in...although tricksters and fraudsters have always been around, but now all they need to get into your home, is a means of contact like a phone or computer. Even small amounts of info are all they need to steal your identity or financial info. Also, a quick search of the phone number didn't turn up a legit business, nor was it tied to Scotia Life in anyway. Always be careful.
