well my update... I've been to the dr twice now and have not received anymore calls since the initial ones documented here. I have also seen a possible change in office attitude and staff?? for the positive, which is really stretching it with this group!
I am ticked that this happened, but it is compounded by the fact that this dr is a quack. Made the situation more stinky for me... I am an old school nurse and can clearly see that these new doctors are all about making money and absolutely nothing else. They certainly hold us hostage due to the doctor shortage in Ontario.

A woman called my wife, asked for her by name, gave our Doctor's name and said she was from Preventive Care. She asked about certain medical tests that my wife has never had. Our telephone number appeared (with an extra 9 in front) where the caller's name should be.
Received 2 calls from the above number, no message left. One call on Dec. 7 at 2:08 pm and one call on Dec. 10 at 5:13 pm. Display shows "unknown name".
same thing, said they were calling from my doctor, offering for $5. per month to call and notify me of appts, recalls on meds etc (sounded like a calendar service). When I started asking them, "if" they were calling from my doctor's office", they stated" no they didn't want to tie up his phone" when I asked if I could I have some info in mail or online, "No they couldn't send that", they said it was income tax deductible, and when i asked "how", they said "on your medical form". they offered my cancer appt reminders, (strange, never knew I had cancer). When i asked if I could call them back, they said "no, I'm busy call all his patients".
I think this is unethical if the MD is aware of hiring these people to offer this. If he doesn't know about this, then it is a criminal case and should be reported.
I just got a call from this number again....the woman "Barbara" knew my Dr's name and said she was calling to offer a service.
We told her we would discuss this service with the Dr the next time we saw him..she said ok and she hung up...I will call the Dr's office and let you know what he says about this in another post.....
